Day 99 – U.S.A. Basketball?

Today started off with the morning church service where the team performed and I ran the powerpoint for the lyrics. After service, we headed out to lunch with a basketball team from the U.S. that is doing the same thing as us (except they play basketball and we play music). The church set us up at this great restaurant where we had tons of squid, fish, chicken, and rice!!! What a feast! I ate way to much, but this was the first time that I have really gotten into the Malaysian food, so it was o.k.

After lunch, we headed back to the church as we were leading the Youth Service and I was actually in charge of giving the message this week. As I only had about 20 minutes for the message, I decided to show a Rob Bell video (“Dust”) and then talk about how I was affected by the message. It worked out well.

This evening, the basketball team we had lunch with was playing an exhibition game against a local Men’s Recreation Club at the school where we’re teaching. Talk about a beat down!!! The Men’s Club killed the Americans, 70 – 38! Kind of embarrassing, but what can you do. The American’s record is now 2 and 3 in Malaysia with three more games left on their schedule before the finish up their two week tour. I finished up the night with some C.S. Lewis.

God is good, God is love, God has a plan.

Until next time,
